Choose the right camera angle

Where to place your iPhone for face-on and down-the-line analysis without guesswork.

Face-on

Position the camera roughly level with your hands at address and perpendicular to the target line. Aim toward the centre of your body rather than toward the ball.

This view is useful for seeing movement across the frame, including setup, pressure shifts and the relationship between your upper and lower body.

Down the line

Place the camera behind you, looking along the target line. Keep it around hand height and align it consistently—either with your hands or the intended ball-to-target line—so comparisons remain meaningful.

This view is useful for seeing posture, depth and how the club travels around you.

Make comparisons fair

Small changes in camera position can make the same swing look different. Mark the tripod position, keep the lens height stable and use the same alignment convention each session.

If you record a second angle with a companion iPhone, assign each view correctly before capture. The two angles are most useful when they show the same swing from clearly different perspectives.

Consistency beats precision: choose a sensible position you can reproduce.

Keep going.
