Record a swing GolfMotion can read clearly
A five-minute setup for framing, distance, light and a clean automatic capture.

Start with a clean view
Place your iPhone on a stable support and keep the full club, your hands and your feet inside the frame. Leave a little room above your head and beyond the club at the top of the backswing.
Natural daylight or even, front-facing light gives GolfMotion the clearest movement to read. Avoid a bright window directly behind you, deep shadows across your body or a busy background that hides the club.
Set your distance
Move the camera far enough away to see the entire motion without using an ultra-wide view unless space makes it necessary. A stable, level camera is more useful than a dramatic angle.
Record one rehearsal swing and check the frame before beginning the session. If any part of the club leaves the picture, move the camera back and try again.
Let the moment settle
Give yourself a second at address before starting and remain in your finish briefly. Those quiet bookends make each swing easier to identify and review.
For the most consistent comparisons, keep the camera position, lighting and club similar across a practice set.
A clear, repeatable setup matters more than finding a perfect-looking angle.
Before the first ball
- Clean the camera lens.
- Confirm that your whole body and club are visible.
- Check that SwingIQ has camera permission.
- Record a rehearsal swing.
- Use standard capture if automatic capture is not reliable in the current setup.
