When automatic capture misses a swing

Work through framing, permissions, distance, lighting and Apple Watch connection checks.

Check what the camera can see

Automatic capture depends on a clear view of your motion. Confirm that your full body, hands and club remain visible from address through finish. Increase the distance if the club leaves the frame and improve the light if your outline blends into the background.

Clean the lens and keep the phone still. A moving support or severe backlight can make detection unreliable even when the video looks acceptable at a glance.

Check permissions and settings

  • Confirm camera permission is enabled for SwingIQ.
  • Confirm the intended swing type is selected.
  • If using Apple Watch controls, check that the watch is connected and the companion app is responsive.
  • Disconnect a companion camera if you specifically want to test instant automatic capture; that experimental mode is not used with a companion camera connected.

Check capture performance

Instant automatic capture requires the phone to sustain the selected frame rate. If it cannot, SwingIQ reports the issue and uses standard capture for the session rather than quietly recording at a lower rate.

Let a warm phone cool, close other camera-heavy apps and try again. Very low storage or battery can also make long sessions less reliable.

Use the dependable fallback

Switch to standard capture and record a short test. If standard capture works, continue the session and return to automatic capture in a simpler setup later.

If neither mode works, note the iPhone model, system version, selected frame rate and what appeared on screen, then contact Support. Avoid sending private video unless it is necessary and you explicitly choose to do so.

Keep going.
